Porodjaj: hronoloski - Geburt: chronologisch

November 1, 2007

13.10.2007.

14:00 - 17:00

Lukas birthday party. I ate too much Indian food. :) Lukas mother and grandmother are teasing me that my stomach is “too low” and that the delivery will start soon. I don’t really feel like that. :)

21:00

The constant back pain (in the lower back) starts. It is one of the signs for the delivery begin. I am going through my hospital bag, checking if everything is packed, taking a shower and relaxing by watching the “Becoming Jane”. Watching about the “old ages” helps me to stay calm cause I am living in the modern world. :)

14.10.2007.

00:00

I was thinking that the back pain will last for the whole night so that we can sleep it over and go to the hospital in the morning. But, at the time we wanted to go to the bed the contractions started. Every 5 minutes, for about 40 to 60 seconds I had to breath deeply and make this funny A and O sounds. My husband helped me and was breathing together with me. How relaxing! He gave me so much strength and confidence. :)

1:15

I can’t stand the contractions any more. It’s not that they are so hard to handle but I don’t know how “far” I am and don’t want to be at the hospital too late. So, I am making a phone call and the lady on the line tells me to take a bath. If the contractions disappear afterwards, then I can relax and go back to bed and if they become even stronger then I should come to the hospital.

1:30 - 2:00

Taking a bath was great and really relaxing. Especially the thought that I won’t be able to take any bath for weeks after the delivery (in order to avoid possible infections) made this bath the best one ever. During the bath I almost didn’t have any contractions, at least I didn’t feel them.

2:00

The contractions “are coming back” after the bath so I am calling the hospital and tell me (this time is another lady on the line) that we are coming at around 2:30.

2:30

I felt a bit strange leaving our appartment. The thought and the feeling that you will come back with a small baby girl and that everything will be (beautifully) different from that moment on is surely unique.

3:00

We arrived at the hospital and the midwife (the first one of the total three of them which they’ve been helping us … but read on :-) ) showed us the way to the preparation room. First she and then the doctor examined me and turned the CTG on and though they could see the rhythmical contractions the midwife told us that the delivery hasn’t begun. So, we could either go home and come back in a few hours or stay at the hospital for some hours and see what happens. We’ve (mostly I cause I was feeling more secure at the hospital) decided to stay. They put us at the delivery room, gave me three (3) tablets of the Buscopan to ease the pain and to help the opening starts. I could also sleep between 5 and 7 am which was really good, but my husband unfortunately couldn’t. The midwife first offered to get him the supplemental bed but afterwards everyone forgot about it (she forgot to bring it and we forgot to ask) so he tried to sleep in the chair.

7:30

The new midwife came (change of the work shift) and she made another CTG check and examined me. Still the same. I’ve had contractions but the delivery hasn’t started yet. We decided to go home and hopefully take a proper nap, especially the future dad cause he also needed to stay fresh and strong. :-) The midwife told us “see you soon, at the latest during the afternoon”. She gave me only one Buscopan and another two to take at home in a few hours.

10:00 - 12:00

The future dad is sleeping but I couldn’t. I was only napping. The contractions were so annoying that I couldn’t relax.

13:30

Called the hospital and again the answer is “can you please take a bath and then tell us the results”. I went to the bath but when I noticed that I am bleeding a bit I’ve called again and told them “I think there is no need to take a bath, I am bleeding and we are coming”.

15:00

They are measuring the heart tones and the contractions with the CTG and examining me again, but now the delivery has started. Hurrah! :-)

16:00

The anesthetist who will give me the epidural anesthesia arrives.

17:00

The epidural anesthesia is set up but not really “working”. On the left side my leg and the hip are totally numb but on the right side I still feel the contractions a little. Anyway, it’s much better than without it.

20:00

The midwife announces that the last (”push”) phase has begun. After 1.5 hrs our beautiful baby girl is born. We are the luckiest parents in the world … :-)

Note: The baby was “rolled” with an umbilical cord on the three places: legs, body and the neck…

Do sada smo obradili sve teme osim nege bebe i dojenja.
